Residency : The Fire Station Doha

Artist in Residence

The Fire Station Doha, Qatar.

The Fire Station in Doha, Qatar has been an instrumental part of my artistic journey. As an artist, I find inspiration in the most unexpected places and often explore the use of everyday materials in my work. For me, even the most disregarded objects can be transformed into something beautiful and meaningful.

My art is a celebration of diverse cultures and communities. I aim to create pieces that bring people together and highlight the unique qualities that make each individual special. My latest work, a series of tiles that form a second skin to a pre-existing surface, is a perfect example of this.

Each tile in this series represents a different identity, formed by the same technique yet visually distinct. Together, they form a beautiful mosaic that symbolizes the interconnectedness of our world. At the same time, the grid-like structure of the piece represents the idea of a controlled society, raising questions about power, identity, and individuality.

During my residency at The Fire Station, my work has truly come into its own. The freedom, resources, and space provided by this incredible institution have allowed me to push my creative boundaries further than ever before. I have experimented with new materials, techniques, and concepts, and the results have been truly transformative.

From my early, more simplistic work to my latest, contextually and visually complex pieces, my art has always been about exploration and experimentation. Thanks to The Fire Station, I have been able to take my work to a whole new level and share it with audiences around the world.
